I watched a star die tonight
Burning fierce then just as sudden, gone
Its very heart a reflection echoes bright
The pulse, pulse thrumming in the sound
Where restless dreams forever yielding to the night
Grasping smoke it curls, flickers, gone
Consuming darkness a violence of brilliant light
A sign, the harbinger, for it is the best and worst in me
A powerful nature this shadows might
It cannot, will not be contained, gone
Did it really happen? Had I really seen it go?
For in this dying star is found a world’s delight
