The Unfinished Travels of Morocco

I will go back. Unfortunately, my stay in Rabat was limited before I had to leave for another trip.  The taste of cinnamon and citrus Tangine still lingers in my mind.  I naturally enjoyed a walk along the streets drinking in the beat of ancient and modern. Old orange trees line the street blossoming and buzzing with Moroccan honey bees who produce a rather unique, delicious honey.  In my wanderings, I unexpectedly happened upon the Medina street market where it was easy to be coaxed into stalls or try the vendors freshly squeezed juice.  I had never seen so many different varieties of olives in my life, and the vendor noticing my wide eyes invited me to sample them all!  One of the shopkeepers suggested I should check out the new Medieval Morocco exhibit at the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art for an impressive display of history and influence from Africa to Spain.  The exhibition was not disappointing and left me wanting to explore the rest of the country.

I hope the next trip brings me through Fes, Tangier and the straights, Marrakech, Ouarzazate...ah gee, all over Morocco.
